Associate in Science in Business Administration – Program Description

The Associate in Science in Business Administration provides students with a strong foundation in the essential principles, practices, and functions of business. Designed to prepare graduates for immediate employment or advancement into supervisory roles, the program emphasizes practical skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of the modern business environment.

Students gain a broad overview of business operations through courses such as Introduction to Business (GEB1011), Management (MAN2021), and Introduction to Marketing (MAR2011). Foundational knowledge in Accounting I (ACG2001) and Economics I (ECO2013) equips students to understand financial reporting, economic systems, and the decision-making processes that drive organizational performance. Business Law I (BUL2241) introduces the legal framework governing businesses, helping students recognize how laws affect contracts, employment, and commercial transactions.

Communication and interpersonal effectiveness—key competencies in today’s workplace—are strengthened through Business Communications (OST2335), Organizational Behavior (MNA2100), and Customer Service (MNA1161), where students learn to manage workplace relationships, lead teams, and deliver exceptional service. Students also develop financial literacy and personal money-management skills through Personal Finance (FIN2100), enhancing their ability to make informed financial decisions professionally and personally.

Graduates of the A.S. in Business Administration are prepared for entry-level roles in business operations, customer service, sales, administration, and management support. Additionally, students may seamlessly continue their education at Northwest Florida State College by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Management and Supervision, which offers four emphasis areas: Management, Human Resource Management, Healthcare Management, and Hospitality Management. Students may also choose to advance into the Bachelor of Science in Project Management, designed for those seeking specialized skills in planning, coordinating, and managing organizational projects.

These bachelor’s pathways provide accessible opportunities for students to expand their leadership capabilities, advance their careers, and meet the workforce needs of today’s business environment.
